The firm posted earnings per share of $1.33, against consensus of $1.13, on revenue of $334.3 million, against estimates for $328.59 million. However, Chief executive Ronald D. Croatti commented that businesses remain hesitant to add new costs, including new employees who are potential wearers of our uniforms.” Shares closed up 1.41 percent on the day at $89.82, having been traded in a 52-week range of $55.86 to $88.73.
Biogen IDEC (NASDAQ:BIIB): Closing price $182.68
The FDA has cleared Tecfidera capsules to treat adults suffering from relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis. Results from two clinical trials indicated that those taking Tecfidera had fewer MS relapses compared to those taking an inactive pill. Tecfidera is manufactured by Biogen. Shares closed up 3.16 percent on Wednesday at $182.68, and have been traded in a 52-week range of $124.23 to $178.90.
SAIC (NYSE:SAI): Closing price $13.32
SAIC disclosed in its yearly filing Wednesday that Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) might appeal the $368 million-patent verdict in its favor. In November, a jury decided that Apple infringed two of the patents that SAIC had previously transferred to VirnetX and awarded about $368 million to the latter. Under its agreements with VirnetX, SAIC would receive 25 percent of the proceeds obtained by VirnetX in the lawsuit. In February 2013, the judge ruled against Apple, consistent with the jury verdict; however, SAIC says that the judgment may be appealed. Shares closed up 3.9 percent on the day at $13.32, having been traded in a 52-week range of $10.31 to $13.41.
